Steve McMahon
Managing DirectorSteve is responsible for the overall business strategy of S&S Northern. Steve has worked in the heating and ventilation industry for over 38 years. He started his career at Woods of Colchester, now Flakt Woods, as a trainee estimator. Following career progression with Woods, and a number of further roles in the industry, in 2001 Steve took the opportunity to set up his own business. With the business expanding rapidly, Steve encouraged family members to join him, in particular his and fellow director Sue’s sons, to bring new ideas and ways of looking at opportunities. Their first son joined in 2002 and the company now employs 12 staff from offices in Lancashire and Essex. Steve has an IHVE from Salford University and has a wide range of technical and sales training qualifications. He is passionate about providing the best in customer service and is committed to networking, recently winning BNI Recognition for Outstanding Performance in Networking.
Sue McMahon
DirectorSue is responsible for the company’s sales and marketing strategy. She also manages financial systems and procedures at S&S Northern. Sue had over 19 years’ experience as a sales executive for a large American Healthcare company before she joined S&S Northern as a full time Director in 2007. Recently Sue has designed and project managed the company’s new offices making it an environment S&S feel happy and proud to work in. She has brought in state of the art communication and business conferencing systems making it easier to contact customers around the globe to help develop our business. Sue is now focusing on increasing international trade opportunities. Sue is committed to community involvement and the company supports disabled children’s charity, The Legacy Rainbow House, as its chosen charity. She has also walked several marathons for Walk the Walk charity for Breast Cancer.
Lee Dempsey
Sales DirectorLee is responsible for sales in the North of the UK. He manages all customer accounts in this area and manages the sales team in the North. Lee joined S&S Northern in 2005 following several years’ experience in sales. He started as an engineer, learning the technical aspects of the S&S Northern product range, before moving into sales. He is committed to providing excellent customer service and ensuring all customers are taken care of from the order stage right through to the installation. Lee is working towards the LEAD Management Qualification for owner managers of businesses. He is also trained in asbestos safety, and has NVQs in IT and Customer Service. Lee is focused on developing a range of new business opportunities for S&S Northern into the future.
Craig Dempsey
Technical ManagerCraig conducts our popular CIBSE accredited CPD presentations to councils and consultants throughout the UK. His role keeps him up to date with all the latest industry regulations, he has been at S&S Northern since 2003 providing our customers and colleagues years of knowledge within the gas controls industry. Craig is also involved with product development and introducing new products to the market, this includes technical training for all staff so our customers have an exceptional service. Craig has a various qualifications including a Business Degree from The University of Lancaster.
Craig is committed to customer service and ensuring technical queries are fully resolved. His aim is to ensure our products are built to coincide with the latest regulations and meet the expectations of our customers.
George Dobson
Sales EngineerGeorge started at S&S Northern in 2011 as a business administration apprenticeship straight from college, he is responsible for sales in the North West and East Midlands, managing customer accounts and promoting S&S gas safety systems throughout the area. George has achieved his NVQ2, 3 and 4 in Business Administration in his time at S&S and is currently working towards a Honours degree in business. He is highly motivated to constantly gain new skills through experiences with S&S and training courses. During his time at S&S Northern Ltd, George has enjoyed collecting new skills and techniques, he is excited by the opportunities that S&S presents and is looking forward to working with S&S for the foreseeable future.
David Parsons
Sales EngineerDavid Parsons joined the team as Sales Engineer in June 2015 with responsibility for the South West. Based in Newport, Wales, David now provides the company with total coverage of the UK. David has a sales background, having worked for Europe’s largest car auction company British Car Auctions for over 20 years. Four years ago he moved to Wolseley PLC, the largest distributor of heating and ventilation products in the UK, working for their Parts Center Commercial Team, where he was the Key Account Manager for South Wales and South West England. David therefore has a great knowledge of industry standards, products and customer service.
David plans to increase the profile and grow the business for S&S Northern in the South West of England and South Wales, develop a greater awareness of Merlin gas interlocks and as a result grow sales in Oxfordshire and Hampshire where there has been no major representation for S&S Northern in the last few years.
Steve Halliday
Office ManagerSteven is responsible for the processing and despatching of all customer orders. He is also responsible for stock control, quotations, technical support and warranty information. Steven joined S&S Northern as Customer Service Apprentice in 2008 after working in sales in the printing industry. Steven has a wide range of qualifications including an NVQ in Customer Service and technical training in S&S Northern’s products. Steven is committed to maintaining the high level of customer care which S&S Northern is known for. He plans to develop his knowledge in the commissioning and maintenance areas of the business in the long term.
Dan Dutson
Customer Service Engineer/EstimatorDan Joined S&S Northern in November 2013 after working as a business development manager in the home credit industry for 12 months. Having graduated with a degree in Sport & Exercise Science, he decided to travel and live abroad for a few years before returning to the UK to find a career path. He supports the team with estimating, online enquiries, sales and technical enquiries from customers. He is also looking to train and work in accounts in the long term. Dan has settled in well and is looking forward to progressing and hoping for a long term future with the company.
Ben Tatlock
Customer Service Engineer/EstimatorBen has been with S&S Northern since the beginning of July 2014, working as a trainee estimator, his job role is to support the team with estimating, online enquiries, sales and technical enquiries from customers. He has previously worked as administration apprentice however chose to move company as S&S Northern offered him the chance to improve his skills whilst working todays various qualification. Ben is currently working towards his NVQ3 in business and hopes to complete this in the next 12 months. Ben is enthusiastic to continue learning and developing knowledge of the business, the products and his skills to provide an excellent customer service. He is interested in progressing into a sales role in the future as this has always been of interest to him.
Peter McMahon
Stock ControllerPeter is responsible for stock control and ordering, managing deliveries, maintaining customer records and dealing with enquiries. Following 35 years running parts and service departments for a number of large car dealerships, during which he won several national and regional garage of the year awards, Peter joined S&S Northern in 2006. He has a City & Guilds in auto electrics and has trained in customer service and management accounting.
Julie McCaffery
Accounts ManagerJulie joined S&S Northern September 2012. She studied accounting after leaving school and worked in the accounts industry for a number of years. After returning to work from having her family she became an optical practice manager for 10 years before returning to working in accounts five years ago. Julie is responsible for invoicing, CRM and payroll.
Cameron Murphy
Customer Service Engineer/EstimatorWe welcome a new member of staff to the team this month. Cameron Murphy has joined us as a trainee estimator, based at the company’s Northern office at the beginning of September 2016 straight from School. Cameron's job role is to support the team with estimating, online enquiries, sales and technical enquiries from customers alongside working towards his NVQ2 in business. Cameron has settled in well and is looking forward to learning and developing knowledge of the business, the products and his skills to provide an excellent customer service.
