S&S Northern are investing in the future of a talented young golfer to help him achieve his potential. S&S Northern decided to sponsor Chris Parsons, a 23 year old from Newport in Wales, after Sales Engineer Lee Dempsey at the company played with him in a charity golf tournament.
Chris has been playing golf since the age of 9 and has represented his local golf club, Tredegar Park in Newport, at levels from junior through to county. He was also a member of the junior development squad for Wales. After finishing his degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University and doing an MSc at Swansea University, Chris turned professional earlier in 2012 and is now competing in numerous tours across the UK. This year he has competed in the Euro Pro Tour, the Jamega Tour and the European Qschool stage 1. Rounding off his season Chris narrowly missed out on progressing to Qschool Stage 2 of the European Tour by 3 shots after a closing round of 70, which was 2 under par.
Chris says, “My first season on tour has been very tough as financially it is very difficult to play a full schedule. Also the standard of golf is so high even on the “mini tours” so that if you are not around ten under par you probably are not going to win! I have learnt so much over the last 6 months and I am looking forward to carrying the experience gained through to 2013. I am delighted that S&S Northern are sponsoring me and their support will enable me to purchase the best equipment possible which I am sure will improve my performance further.”
Golf fanatic Lee Dempsey says, “When I met Chris at a charity golf event I was really impressed with his superb golfing skills and his commitment to succeed. After discussions within the company we decided to support Chris to pursue his career potential. We wish Chris all the best and hope to see him on the European or PGA
